So what are we wearing on our skin??

I have numerous clients who ask me "what facial & body products should I use?" I have pulled together lots of information to give you an idea of the ingredients which we shouldn't use and the effects they have on our skin.
When choosing your products have a quick scan at the ingredient list on the back and that will give you an idea whether you should use it or not.

So here goes:

S.D Alcohol: Ethyl alcohol - causes irritation & dryness, also dehydrates natural moisture from the skin.

Mineral Oil: Petroleum by-product - no real skin benefit, leaves the skin greasy which will cause blocked pores.

Isopropyl Myristate: Derived from fatty alcohol - this is highly comedogenic which causes blackheads & milia on the skin.

P.A.B.A (para-amino benzoic acid): - Derived from vitamin B - causes prickly heat & allergic eczema on sensitive skin.

Artificial Fragrances: Parfum - when the word "fragrance" is used it can refer to as many as 15 different fragrances - causes allergies.

Artificial Colours: Derived from coal tar - Never to be used on the eye area & is highly comedogenic which causes blackheads & milia on the skin.

Hydroquinone: Chemical & plant derived - TOXIC! and banned in Europe.

Parabens: Chemicals used as preservatives - possess estrogen-mimicking properties that are associated with increases risk of breast cancer.

Formaldehyde: Colourless gas in alcohol - irritates skin & possible carcinogen (substance, radionuclide, or radiation that is an agent directly involved in causing cancer)

Lanolin: Derived from sheep wool - causes allergies & may contain carcinogens (substance, radionuclide, or radiation that is an agent directly involved in causing cancer)

When deciding on a skin care brand for the salon I did a lot of research and was so happy to find the product range I was searching for - Eve Taylor. These products contain the finest ingredients which are aromatherapy oils.  Eve Taylor avoids all the nasties in her products including lanolin, mineral oil, artificial fragrances, artificial colours and alcohol. Each & every pre blend oil is mixed by Eve herself which today really does not happen with cosmetic companies. Another bonus.. the products are priced so reasonable! Call to the salon to check out the products and pick up a few samples. I have been using these products with over 6 years and love them.
