Being a tourist in Killarney for a day

Last weekend I celebrated my birthday. And what better way to spend it...  in the sunshine, with friends, doing the tourist things in Killarney!

We booked our Gap of Dunloe tour through Killarney Day Tours and headed off from Ross Castle at 10.30am.

Sunglasses. Check. Lifejackets. Check. Floppy Hats. Check. And we're off!!

Anyone who follows me on my Instagram stories or my snapchat @annetteobmua got to see the full day of events!

This tour is running with 250 years and Donal our guide made it such an enjoyable one for us. We stopped at so many places and took it all in. It was such a relaxing trip while hearing about the history of the lakes.

The boat trip lasted for approx 1.5-2 hours and the time just flew by. We saw all the tourist spots - Innisfallen Island, Dinis Cottage, Meeting of the Waters.

We arrived at Lord Brandon's Cottage just in time for a tasty, homemade sandwich and some tea.

After our quick bite, Sally was waiting to take us through the Black Valley and onto the Gap of Dunloe.

And what a sight this was - absolutely breathtaking. The jaunting car took about an hour.

We giggled and laughed along the way. There were plenty storied being told, who knew which ones to believe?!

We ended up back near Kate Kearney's Cottage. Cake and some cool drink to finish off our adventure!

We finished up the evening at The Europe Hotel for dinner. The perfect birthday weekend and I would recommend the The Gap of Dunloe Adventure to all. Such a fun day!

Hope you enjoyed the sunshine too!
