During the Easter season I was due a catch-up with Helena and we headed off to Castlemartyr Resort for Afternoon Tea.
The sun's rays were streaming down as we made our way along the driveway to the Resort, passing the Castle ruins and watching golfers tee-off. Pity we don't play ourselves - I imagine this is the perfect place for a round of golf - such quiteness in a surreal setting of woodlands - just bliss.
When walking towards the Manor House it almost takes your breath away. Origionally, construction took place in the 17th century and today the Manor House is restored to its original grandeur and it is so magnificent.
We were greeted with a complimentary glass of Prosecco on arrival at The Bell Tower Restaurant. This room oozes a vintage and decadent lifestyle and I almost felt like I was on set of Downton Abbey. All I was missing was my attire!
It is here, in The Bell Tower, that they serve "Lady Fitzgerald's Afternoon Tea" and at the weekend it was even more special as it was Easter themed.
Perched at a bright window seat we indulged in a Buttermilk Panna Cotta with honeycomb, Strawberry consommé & Pistachio topping.
Alex (our waiter) talked us through the tempting menu as we chose our favourite tea. This was the biggest decision of the whole day - so many fresh smelling teas from all over the world. In the end my favourite was Barry's Tea. That's the rebel coming out in me! :)
Next our mouthwatering three tier platter arrived and I couldn't wait to taste some of the delightful treats.
The bottom tier, which we started on, had scrumptious assorted finger sandwiches.
Chicken, rocket and wholegrain mustard on a soft multigrain bread.
Backed Brioche roll with egg mayonnaise and sun-dried tomato.
Cucumber and cream cheese on white bread.
And my favourite - Poached salmon with a herb infused mayonnaise, soft boiled quails egg, trout caviar served on squid ink bread.
Home-made scone with clotted cream and homemade strawberry prosecco jam.
Ginger bread finger.
Sweet Raspberry finger.
More tea, chats and giggles and we were ready for the top tier which I really couldn't wait to indulge in. Well done to the hotel's Head Chef, Kevin Burke - everything was Easter themed..have a look.
We finished off our beautiful pastries while watching children take pony carriage rides in the garden and also couples walking their dogs (you can bring your four legged friend here). I know Milco (my pooch) would love it here.
High Tea at Castemartyr Resort was re-styled by Peter Kelly aka "Franc". His unique creative talent is evident in the elegance of the whole experience.
This splendid Afternoon Tea is served daily from 1.30pm - 4.30pm and is priced at just €29pp. Really great value.
We strolled around the gardens till late in to the evening and we were delighted to get a tour of the hotel from Trevor, Castlemartyr's Guest Relations Manager.
I can play.. really..
And the highlight of our tour was a trip to The Presidental Suite where "rumour has it" Kim Kardashian & Kayne West stayed during their honeymoon. It is one of the 11 rooms in the old Manor House and definitely has the best view. The Suite is so spacious complete with a large bedroom, bathroom and sauna.
It is the perfect suite for entertaining with a separate sitting room, dining room and an anteroom all serviced by a dedicated elevator directly to the kitchen so meals can be delivered. Such a great idea.

And one final picture to finish off our wonderful evening.
